This has been declared our month of open doors, and our promises come from Revelation 3:7-8 and 1 Corinthians 16:8-9. The first promise states “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. All that you were able to do even in your weakness is to keep his word and never deny his name. God is saying even through you are weak, He will open a door for you and enable you to walk through. The second promise states, “But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost, because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.” There is no door that opens that does not come with adversaries. No opportunity is going to come free of tribulations and troubles. Its part of the package. Consider Peter as he and Jesus talked after the parable of the rich young ruler. He told Peter, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life. Persecutions are what make you stronger and tougher because afterall a calm sea cannot produce a skillful sailor. However there is an assurance because the one who opened the door for you is true and holy. He is the one that opens and no man can shut. He’s calling you to walk though it, but there are things that are trying to stop you from walking through it, and I can sum them up in one word: distractions. They come to obstruct you, confuse you, derail you, divert you and halt you. Anything sent to divert you that is contrary to your call and purpose wont work unless they cause you to lose focus. When you lose focus you are done! And the enemy will disguise himself in many ways even as an angel of light. He will load you with persuasion and before you know it you are out! He will try to turn divine commandments into debatable topics. Are you busy? Do you have no time for God? He will have you struggling to give your time to him. Do you love money? He will make you chase money until the very end. He will do everything to distract you. Pastor Taiwo also wrote in his newsletter:
God is always opening doors for his children, but there are often attempts by the adversary to hinder them from walking through those doors. His greatest weapon? Distractions. Some distractions come in the guise of colleagues, succeeding or attaining goals you are yet to attain while some present themselves as marital, financial, academic, or health issues or challenges. In whatever form they come you can choose to see them as mere mountains that need to be surmounted or rivers to cross instead of allowing them to hinder you from achieving your God given purpose. So this new month recognize and always keep in mind that God has set before you an open door and it is a great and effective door, your only responsibility is to walk through it the door will lead you to every blessing you have ever desired and put an end to all your struggles the enemy may try to put some barriers on your path but always remember he is a defeated foe. So this month I challenge you to focus on the possibilities that lie within the open door set before you. Focus on the one Jesus who has secured your victory over the devil. He is holding your hand and saying to you don’t fear with him no devil can stop you. It is because of Jesus.
As long as I have Jesus with me I refuse to get distracted. Things that want to distract you will be so heavy but since you refuse at a time of peace he will hold you in a time of turbulence. A door for the supernatural was opened for Peter. His eyes were on Jesus and he asked him Jesus to bid him to come. He walked on water! But as soon as he was distracted by the wind and strong waves he began to fall. When you get distracted you sink. You fail to follow the purpose. When you take your eyes away from him you are sinking. Don’t let the noise take you off him, don’t go by what you feel because that will deceive you. Don’t go by what you see because that will be against you. Only go by what you know which is if God is for you who can be against you. It’s not by what they say, but by what you know. That if you walk through the valley of the shadow of death you will fear no evil. When you are focused you are guaranteed to win regardless of the fierceness of the attack. The enemy can’t force you out of God’s will. He can’t tie you down. He can only lure, you, scare you, deceive you and make you quit. Don’t be persuaded. Don’t be distracted. Keep your eyes on Jesus and know that your destiny is sure. There is greatness in you. The doors are open. Walk on through.
