Romans 1-4

We have started the book of Romans! The Apostle Paul’s letters to the Romans are some of the most powerful writings in history. He starts the chapter stating that he is a bondservant of Jesus Christ called to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, of whom we are also called! So the first point that stuck out here is that we children of God have a calling. A calling in plain English is defined as, “a strong urge toward a particular way of life or career; a vocation.” It is our duty, our job, to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ because through him we are sanctified, justified, and ultimately redeemed, which Paul goes further to explain. There is power in the gospel. Romans 1:16-17 states, “16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,[a] just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” The word of God says that whoever believes in Jesus Christ shall not perish but shall have everlasting life. That means that by our belief in Jesus rising from the dead, and by our faith in the fact that he is our Lord and savior, seated at the right hand of God, we are saved! It is not by our works. We are all deserving of death, hell, and the grave but God gave his son as propitiation for our sins and by our faith we are saved. We sometimes forget this good news. We forget to walk in it. We forget to live as such that have been redeemed. We forget we now wear Christ on us like a garment. We are no longer our own. We sometimes forget we don’t have to work our way into heaven, we forget that we are called to greater things! It is for our forgetting that the word of God was written. We have a constant reminder of the good news which is the gospel of Christ, and we have been called to share it just as the apostle Paul was called before us. Go save a soul today! Go share your faith. Walk in redemption. You were born a winner.
